Organizational Location: This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, Albuquerque, NM.

This is a non-bargaining unit position.

Salary: The salary range indicated in this announcement will be adjusted to include locality payment for selected duty location. General Schedule locality pay tables may be found under Salaries & Wages.
At the full performance level, as an Investigative Assistant (OA), you will perform the following duties:
Gather data and conduct inquiries regarding individual case assignments;
Assist in accomplishing case research and trial preparation;
Research and assemble, compile, and tabulate information and figures for agents' use in investigations, seizures and penalty reports;
During mobile investigative activity, you will monitor the base station's radio;
Compile reports on the progress of various cases, seizures and arrests, and perform a variety of clerical duties for the office, including typing, receiving and screening mail.

You must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position.

Probationary Period: This is a full-time permanent position (Career/Career-Conditional appointment). Upon appointment to this position, you may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.
You must possess knowledge of general office automation software, practices, and procedures.
You must be able to type 40 words per minutes with 3 or fewer errors. Qualifications You qualify at the GS-05 grade level if you possess one of the following:

Experience: One (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-04 grade level performing duties such as:
Providing clerical support to investigators;
Preparing investigative documents with complicated formatting such as headers and footers;
Extracting, revising or sorting investigative information from files, records or databases. OR
Education: You have successfully completed a four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree or a bachelor's degree.
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of successfully completed post-high school education and experience. This will be calculated using your resume and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with your application.

You qualify at the GS-06 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-05 grade level performing duties such as:
Performing a wide variety of interrelated and/or nonstandard investigative support work;
Searching law enforcement databases to plan, coordinate, develop facts and /or resolving investigative support problems;
Using computers with office applications to perform operations or to prepare complex investigative documents containing tables or graphs. Qua
