Job Description
Duties Summary
This position serves in the capacity of the Secretary (Office Automation) to The Chief of Engineering Services at the Miami VA Medical Center
Responsibilities

Perform clerical duties such as receiving visitors, telephone calls, taking messages, making appointments, coordinating and maintaining the Chief's appointment calendar, and answering inquiries.
Remind the Chief and Assistant Chief Engineer of scheduled appointments, meetings.
Advises and instructs originator to obtain higher degree of compliance whenever required.
Maintains the Engineering Service bulletin board.
Provides general counseling to service employees concerning VA policy and other directives concerned with administration of the Engineering program.
Make travel arrangements as well as arrangements for meetings, conferences, etc.
Perform other duties assigned. Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process Qualifications One (1) year of specialized experience to perform the duties of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been gained to at least the equivalent of the next lower grade level of GS-5 in Federal service. Specialized experience is experience utilizing computer programs and the ability to provide data from sources in order to generate reports, reviews, statistics, etc. to accommodate a wide variety of Service needs; performing administrative tasks such as preparing agendas, drafting and distributing minutes, preparing and reviewing correspondence, and maintaining time and attendance records; adapting policies and procedures to emergency situations; and establishing new procedures to meet new situations. -AND-

TYPING PROFICIENCY: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute. -AND-
